Prepare the following tools before you start:

• Metal tape measure (millimetres)
• Pencil and notepad (or notes app)
• Step stool (if needed)
• Credit card (to check recess depth)
• Spirit level (optional)

Step 1: Measure the Width

Measure inside the recess at the top, middle, and bottom.
Record the smallest width to the nearest millimetre.

Step 2: Measure the Height

Measure at the left, centre, and right of the recess.
Record the smallest height.

Step 3: Check Recess Depth

Place a credit card flat against the glass to check the depth to the front of the recess.
You need at least 35–40mm of depth.

Step 4: Check for Handles or Obstructions

Measure how far any window handles, locks, or vents extend from the glass — this ensures the shutters will clear them.

Step 5: Panel & Midrail Guidelines

• Min panel width: 200mm | Max width: 900mm
• Max panel height: 3000mm
• 1801–2500mm: 1 midrail required
• 2501–3000mm: 2 midrails required

Step 6: Tilt Rod Options

Choose between Clearview or Central Tilt Rod. Max tilt height: 1370mm.

• Screwdriver
• Screws and wall plugs (included)

Step 1: Assemble the Frame

• Lay out the frame parts on a flat surface
• Join corners using included fixings or corner connectors
• Check squareness using a spirit level

Step 2: Fit the Frame

• Position the frame inside the window recess
• Mark screw hole positions lightly with a pencil
• Drill pilot holes and insert plugs if fixing into masonry or plaster
• Partially fix the frame with screws — don't fully tighten yet

Step 3: Hang the Panels

• Align shutter panels with the hinges and fix them to the frame
• Open and close to test swing and adjust if needed
• Once aligned, tighten hinge screws securely

Step 4: Final Adjustments

• Fully tighten all frame fixings
• Apply cover strips to conceal screw heads
• Adjust louvre tension if required
